BIDEN-XI ATTEND VIRTUAL SUMMIT

Today, Orak woke up with a smile on his face. Excitement brewed within him. You see, he had a very important meeting today! The MysticLord had summoned Orak for a special project. Orak felt quite proud to have been chosen.

Looking at her friend, Verum said, “Somebody is looking quite excited today. What’s the reason?”

Orak did a little happy dance as he replied, “I have a meeting with the MysticLord!”

“Whoa! That is so cool!” said Verum.

“To tell you the truth, I’m also feeling a bit nervous,” said Orak.

“Don’t be. You’re going to do great!” said Verum, “Till then, would you like some news to distract you?”

“Yes please!” replied Orak now focused on Verum’s crystal ball.

“On 15th November, another big meeting took place,” said Verum, “United States (US) President Joe Biden attended a virtual summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.”

“That is certainly an important meeting,” said Orak, “The leaders of the world’s two biggest economies met and discussed crucial issues.”

“Especially because the tensions between the US and China have been on the rise,” added Scorch, joining the discussion, “The two countries have disagreed on various issues such as the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic, trade and competition rules, China’s rising number of nuclear weapons, and its increasing pressure on Taiwan.”

“You’re right, Scorch,” said Verum, “And that’s exactly why this meeting took place. Both Biden and Xi realized that the competition between the US and China shouldn’t evolve into conflict. And for this, communication and cooperation is the solution.”

“Yes, that is true,” said Orak, “Did they discuss the above issues though?”

“Yeah, President Biden brought up US’ concerns about the human rights violations in Hong Kong and against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang,” said Verum, “In response, China asked the US to not meddle in its internal affairs.”

“What about Taiwan?” said Scorch.

“China considers Taiwan as a breakaway state which will be reunited with the mainland,” said Verum, “However, the US has pledged to support the self-ruled island in case of an attack. China warned that encouraging Taiwanese independence would be like playing with fire.”

“Did they come to any compromise or decisions?” said Orak.

“The two leaders didn’t come to a conclusion. However, they agreed to cooperate on certain matters,” said Verum, “That’s progress!”
