‘GOLDEN GIRL’ PASSES AWAY AT 99

“Scorch, who is Betty White?” Orak inquired. “The MysticLand Elementia library’s news screen is doing a story on Betty who passed away a few days ago.”

“The message of hers passing away reached our school library?” Scorch said in surprise but quickly calmed down, “It makes sense, now that I think about it. I mean Betty – born in Illinois (America) in 1922 – was one of the Golden Girls! She will remain as one of the nicest women Hollywood and TV have ever seen. It’s heartbreaking that she passed away just a few weeks before her 100th birthday!”

“She sounds like a marvelous person. But what’s Golden Girls?” Orak said.

“It was one of the most popular American comedy TV shows, running from 1985 to 1992. Betty was one of the four old women on the show who are best friends. The show won various awards and Betty won the prestigious Emmy Award in the best comedy actress category.

She had worked in many iconic shows throughout her life and even hosted some. And for her outstanding career, she was honored with the lifetime achievement Emmy Award in 2015. It was her eighth Emmy! What a star!

But you know, she wasn’t just an actress. She also joined the American Women’s Voluntary Services (AWVS) during the Second World War. AWVS helped to deliver messages, cook food, take care of wounded soldiers, and just be wherever help was needed.

Betty also loved animals and worked with the Los Angeles Zoo and the Morris Animal Foundation for more than 40 years!” Scorch explained.

“What a lovely person! She was just one year shy of turning 100 years old! In any case, I’m going to take you, Verum, and Felix back in time to see her work on the sets of Golden Girls,” Orak said and opened a portal into the past.
