In Melbourne, Australia, the spectators just could not keep their calm. Joining them in the cheering were the Gifted Four. Verum, Orak, Scorch, and Felix were present at the final match between tennis players Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev held on 30th January.
After a long battle of five-and-a-half hours, the stadium erupted in resounding cheer when the nail-biting Australian Open finale had its winner: Rafael Nadal!
Australian Open is a tennis tournament held annually at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia. It is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events held each year. It precedes the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
“This is excellent! Nadal has made history. He has claimed his record-breaking 21st Grand Slam men’s title after a spectacular comeback in the match!” said a delighted Scorch.
She further added that Nadal was down with Covid just before Christmas last year. This came as a concern as it hinted at his non-participation in the Australian Open. The 35-year-old Spanish tennis player was not even prepared for the matches due to a foot injury. Nadal pushed through the pain and decided to give the Australian Open his best shot.
“That’s right. I was unsure if he would win it. But then, he somehow recovered in the game to defeat Russia’s Medvedev,” added Orak.
“With this win, Nadal takes lead as he has broken his tie with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer who hold 20 Grand Slam titles each,” informed Verum, as the Gifted Four hopped into the tempus machine. The Mysticals were now heading back to MysticLand.
“This is his second Australian Open title. I loved what he said post-match. He said this is one of the most emotional moments in his tennis career,” said Scorch as she blew on the party horn!
