WPL TOUTED AS A GAMECHANGER

“Mysticals, you know about the men’s cricket called the Indian Premier League (IPL)?” Scorch asked. Verum, Orak, and Felix nodded a yes. Felix replied, “It is a T20 franchise league in India. You told us that T20 is a cricket format and a franchise is when professional players come together individually or as a group to form a league and compete against each other.”

An impressed Scorch quickly added, “And now we have a brand new T20 franchise: Women’s Premier League! It is a cricket franchise league, founded by the same Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which founded IPL too.”

“This is indeed great news! I am sure all the cricket fans are thrilled,” Orak added.

“Absolutely!” Scorch agreed.

“Tell us everything about this new franchise,” demanded a happy Verum.

“The first season begins in March in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, the two cities in Maharashtra. There are five teams, but BCCI has said they will increase in the future. The current teams are the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Mumbai Indians,” informed Scorch.

“All the very best to all the teams!” Felix said.

“Orak, can we go to watch these matches?” Scorch turned to Orak.

“We must! This is a huge boost to women’s cricket in India and the world, and it is the first time that such a franchise has been envisioned. We must encourage them with our presence,” Orak strongly supported Scorch’s idea. Verum and Felix nodded their heads.
