MUMBAI BEATS DELHI TO WIN WPL

Felix exclaimed, “What a game! The two teams played so well! But I must say the Mumbai team’s players were extraordinary tonight!”

The Mysticals were sitting at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai, India, and they were reliving the exciting cricket match they just witnessed as spectators between Mumbai and Delhi teams at the Women’s Premier League final. Mumbai emerged as the winner of the championship.

Verum agreed, “Oh yeah! They performed so well.”

Scorch said, “Delhi Capitals finished at the top of the table in the league and progressed to finals directly. Mumbai Indians won the playoffs (a game to decide the opponent for the finalist) and faced Delhi Capitals in the final.

Meg Lanning of Delhi Capitals won the orange cap, and Hayley Matthews of Mumbai Indians won the purple cap. Hayley also bagged the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her stellar performance in bat and ball.”

Felix scratched her head, “I have a question. Why are they given an orange and a purple cap?”

Scorch said, “An orange cap is given to the best batswoman of the season. Meg Lanning scored the highest number of runs (245 runs), so she won the cap.

A purple cap is awarded to whoever takes the most wickets in the season. In this case, it was Hayley Matthews bagging 16 wickets.”

After a few moments of discussion, the Mysticals snuck back to MysticLand in Orak’s Tempus Machine.
