“It was nice to see fans and loved ones unite to pray and help Damar Hamlin recover,” said Scorch as she knelt to show respect to the player.
Felix saw Scorch kneeling and asked, “Who is Damar Hamlin? What happened to him?”
Rising to her feet, Scorch explained, “Hamlin is an American football player. He plays for a team called Buffalo Bills.
A few days ago, he suffered a cardiac arrest (it is a sudden medical happening where the heart stops beating) during a game. He was rushed to the hospital, and the game was stopped.”
“How did it happen?” asked a terrified Felix.
Scorch began explaining, “Buffalo Bills were playing against Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin was trying to tackle Cincinnati Bengals’ player named Tee Higgins. Higgins’ helmet hit Hamlin’s chest hard, and he fell on his back.
Immediately, officials gathered around and provided first-aid to Hamlin. Soon, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.”
“I hope he recovers soon” prayed Felix.
“Yes,” said Scorch, “Hamlin is out of the hospital as per the latest reports. But his family has said they are grateful for all the support the player received.”
