CHESS HEADLINES WEEK OF TRIUMPHS IN SPORTS

“Hola, Mysticals! It has been a crazy week of achievements in the sports world. Who is ready for the sports update?” asked Scorch.
“We are always when it comes to world news,” winked Felix cheekily.
Scorch held a fake mike and began reporting, “First up is news from the chess world. Norway’s Magnus Carlsen defeated eighteen-year-old Indian chess player Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa to emerge as the FIDE Chess World Cup 2023 champion held in Azerbaijan on August 24. The Norwegian chess player lifted his first World Cup trophy.
Heaps of praise were showered on the Indian teen for his stellar performance throughout the game. Do note, Praggnanandhaa became the youngest player to storm into the World Cup finals.”
All the Mysticals and MysticBeasts present there clapped and cheered.
“Indian women’s compound archery team, comprising three archers, Aditi Swami, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Parneet Kaur, won a gold medal a few days ago at the World Archery Championships held in Berlin, Germany.
At 17 years of age, Swami became the youngest world champion. We also have Ojas Deotale, an archer from Maharashtra, who won gold in the men’s archery. He became India’s first male archer to win gold at the World Archery Championships.”
Mysticals clapped in unison again. Scorch shushed everyone, “There’s more! Now, moving to football. Spain’s women’s football team rallied to victory at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Spain defeated England to win their maiden trophy.
Women’s FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) was held in Australia and New Zealand. Many soccer fans gathered in Gijón, a Spanish city, to watch this game. That’s all for the news week round-up from the sports world. Signing off is your sports enthusiast, Scorch!”
The school bell rang just then signalling that lunch break was over and the Gifted Four went back to their classrooms.
